Tip Tap Tip Tap falls the rain

And sings a song on my window pane

I squint and see out of the glass

The rains drops shining on the grass

“Ma can I go out and play in the rain?”

“Look at the streams run down our lane!”

Ma smiles and gives me a hug and a cuddle

But I want to go out and splash in the puddle

So when I see she is not around

I slip out without making a sound

I play in the rain to my heart’s fill

And that is when I shiver in the chill

I run back in and I begin to cry

But Ma pats me down with a towel to dry

And over a bowl of hot fish curry

I promise never to make her worry
